Lefebvre Sarrut is organizing a Hackathon – What is it exactly?

Over the recent years, you might have read or heard about hackathons: exciting events that bring together people with a passion for technology, innovation, and problem-solving. The UNESCO CodeTheCurve Hackathon or the Global Legal Hackathon (in which Lefebvre Dalloz had one team participating in 2022) are just two examples of the many events of the kind. Whether you are a seasoned developer, a budding entrepreneur, or simply curious about the world of tech, participating in a hackathon can be a thrilling and rewarding experience. In this article, we will explore what a hackathon is, the reasons why Lefebvre Sarrut is organizing its very first hackathon this year.

An Overview of Hackathons

A hackathon is an intense, collaborative event where teams created ad-hoc work together to create innovative solutions to real-world problems within a limited timeframe, typically ranging from a few hours to a few days. During a hackathon, participants engage in rapid prototyping and creative problem-solving, aiming to develop a working prototype by the end of the event.

Hackathons are not limited to any specific field or industry; they can focus on various areas such as software development, hardware, social impact, business innovation, artificial intelligence, and much more. These events attract a diverse group of participants including programmers, designers, marketers, but also lawyers for instance, all with different skills and backgrounds. This diversity fosters collaboration and allows for the exchange of ideas, ultimately leading to innovative and impactful solutions.

Fostering innovation

The environment in which hackathon participants are evolving in during a Hackathon is a real catalyst for innovation. Participants follow a guided path through innovation methodologies, where the end user is put in the center and take an active part in the solution creation. Different experts are also present along the event to help the teams creating the perfect solutions. UX experts, market experts, or content experts will all join us during this first Lefebvre Sarrut Hackathon, to make sure teams have all the keys to create the perfect solution!

But why is Lefebvre Sarrut organizing such an event?

Over the past months, we’ve all seen the generative AIs, such as ChatGPT, boom and change the habits of a great number of professionals. It uses large amounts of data (most of the content available on internet) to provide its users with easily readable answers. One of the inconvenient is that all information found on internet is not always reliable and can lead to inaccurate answers.

And this is where Lefebvre Sarrut has its role to play! Strong of its great and reliable contents bases, it can feed the GenAI algorithms with its information to provide a more reliable and accurate information to legal professionals, and even to new targets such as the general public. But not only, it can also help us internally change our processes to become more productive and provide an even broader and personalized information to our customers.

But to create these solutions, we need all Lefebvre Sarrut employees onboard, and to start mastering these technologies. Because AI is happening whether you are onboard or not, the best way to have control over it is to get familiar with it! This is why we are organizing this Hackathon! And we hope to see lots of employees taking part in this initiative! It’s a great opportunity to take a step back on your daily work, and reflect on how to improve your tasks!
